Aus vs Eng ODI Series: The England selectors had no surprises when they named the 17 member squad for the upcoming ODI and T20 series against Australia in January.

The England selectors had no surprises when they named the 17 member squad for the upcoming ODI and T20 series against Australia in January.

England will be playing seven ODIs and two T20 matches after the Ashes. Andrew Strauss has been named the skipper of the ODI team while Paul Collingwood will lead the side in the T20s. Uncapped Warwickshire allrounder, Chris Woakes is the only new face in the team. Also Chris Tremlett has made a comeback into the ODI squad after a gap of two years.

The selectors have also named two wicket-keepers for the two formats. Steve Davies has been named ahead of Matt Potter while Craig Kieswetter has been retained only in the T20 squad.

The only surprise omission came in the form of Ravi Bopara. With Kevin Pietersen and Ian Bell both in good form, the selectors were forced to omit Bopara. However, he might be back in contention when the selectors select the squad for the ICC World Cup 2011.

Stuart Broad, who is out of the current Ashes series with a torn stomach muscle, too has not been named in the squad.
