Like every year, this year as well a few players, who are yet to establish themselves on the international scene, have come into prominence courtesy their performance in the Indian Premier League. Here’s a look at some of them.

Shreyas Iyer: He has been one of the few reasons Delhi Daredevils have had something to cheer about this season. Opening the innings, Iyer has played some impressive knocks for the team. In 12 matches, he has scored 349 runs at a strike rate of 127 with three half-centuries. He is averaging 29 with a best of 83. Most importantly, he has looked at ease against some quality bowlers.

Deepak Hooda: His performance may have petered away in the last few matches, but there is no denying that Hooda gave a good account of himself in the earlier games. In fact, the 19-year-old made a splendid 54 in no time in one of the matches en route to Rajasthan Royals’ unbeaten winning streak. His weaknesses have been found out in the last few games. He has only managed 125 runs overall, but his strike rate of 186 is impressive nonetheless.

Karun Nair: Rajasthan have a habit of grooming youngsters, and Karun Nair is another in the list. Nair has played a couple of impressive knocks for team, and has made an impact for sure. In 12 matches, he has scored 143 runs at an impressive strike rate of 130. He has one fifty to his credit, a highest score of 61. The figures may not be outstanding, but he has done enough to prove that he is one to watch out for in the future.

Hardik Pandya: He plays for Baroda in domestic cricket, and wasn’t much known before his heroics for Mumbai Indians against Chennai Super Kings. First, the all-rounder held three catches while fielding in the deep during the game. Then, when Mumbai needed 30 runs from 12 balls to win the match, he smashed three sixes off Pawan Negi, and played a stellar role in Mumbai winning the game with ease. Pandya has found his moment in the limelight for now.

David Wiese: The all-rounder from South Africa has been a key figure in Royal Challengers Bangalore’s resurgence. With the bat, he has scored 106 runs in 9 games at a strike rate of 143, and an average of 35. Further, with his medium pace, he has claimed 10 wickets at a strike rate of 16, and a average of 21.5. His economy rate of 8.16 has been slightly on the higher side.

Anureet Singh: The medium pacer from Kings XI Punjab has made an impression claiming 13 wickets in 11 games. His strike rate has been just under 20, and he has averaged 29. An economy rate of 8.80 is something he would like to work on, but he has proved his worth for the team surely.
