South Africa Innings

Pakistan shocked South Africa by 11 runs on a placid track at the the Beausejour Stadium in Gros Islet after the Proteas ran out of steam in a moderate chase of 149. With this defeat, South Africa have crashed out of the Tournament despite looking as one of the favourites to win the Cup early on! It would be difficult to understand how SA could not chase such an average target of 149! They really struggled on this slow pitch but it wasn't difficult at all to bat! Umar Akmal was the star of the match with some lovely shots to set this match up for Pakistan though his team fell short of atleast 20-30 runs. Pakistan are now in with a chance of making it to the Semis if England manages to defeat New Zealand!

The South African innings never got going and was crawling around at 68 for 4 in the 13th over. AB de Villiers was the only batsman to show a bit of urgency but when he got out in the 16th over, it was too difficult for the Proteas. AB scored 53 from 41 balls with a four and two sixes before he was caught behind in an attempted scoop shot. Saeed Ajmal was the most successful bowler taking 4 for 26 in four overs. Left arm spinner Abdur Rehman and Shahid Afridi did a fabulous job in restricting the run flow.

Toss and Teams

Pakistan who are on their way back to home have won the toss and elected to bat first against South Africa in their last Super Eights Match at Gros Islet. Pakistan have dropped Mohammad Sami and replaced him with a batsman in Khalid Latif. SA on the other hand have gone in for the extra spinner in Roelof van der Merwe in place of fast bowler Morne Morkel. It's a must win game for South Africa to enter into the Semi Finals.
