The Indian team for the ODIs against New Zealand has been named and Gautam Gambhir will lead the side. Regular captain MS Dhoni has been rested along with most of the other senior members like Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh.
The Indian selectors seemed to have paid heed to the request from captain Dhoni who had said that he wanted some rest to recuperate from the injuries that he and some of the other players had suffered from playing in all the formats of the game over a period of time.
However, Suresh Raina has not been rested and he will play in the first couple of ODIs at least. The ODI squad for the series will also see the presence of Wriddhiman Saha, who will keep the wickets apart from the return of Yusuf Pathan.
India play New Zealand in five ODIs which will begin in Guwahati from November 28.
