New Delhi: Former India skipper Mohammed Azharuddin has joined the growing list of celebrities on social networking site Twitter.

Azharuddin, a veteran of 99 Tests and 334 ODIs, will be available on twitter with the handle @mpazhar

Azhar, a Congress Member of Parliament from Moradabad, will soon be launching his website to connect with the people of his constituency. The website - www.azhar.co.in - will be launched on his 48th birthday next month on February 8.

Azhar made his Test debut against England in 1984 at Kolkata and played his last match in 2000 against South Africa at Bangalore. The classy right-handed batsman, in his debut Test series against England, scored three hundreds in the first three Tests, a feat that has never been matched, while his last Test innings against the Proteas at home also bore him a hundred. He also featured in 334 one-day internationals, averaging 36.92 with a highest score of 153 not out.

The stylish Hyderabadi player captained the Indian cricket team for much of the 1990s, until his involvement in a match-fixing scandal forced him into retirement. He made his foray into politics by joining the Congress party in 2009.
