Kochi Tuskers Kerala lost their way after a promising start to be restricted to 125/9 by Royal Challengers Bangalore in match 50 of IPL-4 at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Sunday.

Bracing a late hot afternoon, thousands of die-hard fans flocked to the Chinnaswamy stadium on Sunday to watch the tall West Indian Chris Gayle of home team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) swing his heavy bat for sixes and fours against Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK) in the Indian Premier League.

And the assassin didn't disappoint the fans as he smashed a whirlwind 44 runs in just 16 balls, including a record 37 runs in Prasanth Parameswaran’s one over – the highest ever in the IPL history.

Earlier, the Royal Challengers struck at crucial times to gain the upper hand against Kochi.

Brendon McCullum and Michael Klinger fell after providing the Kochi Tuskers with a solid start after their skipper Mahela Jayawardene won the toss and elected to bat first.

While Ramesh Powar came in for S Sreesanth for Kochi, Bangalore brought in Cheteshwar Pujara to replace Asad Pathan.

Both teams went into the match with an eye on the play-offs. While the Royal Challengers are in 4th place on the points table with 11 points, Kochi Tuskers are in 6th position with five wins and as many losses.

Bangalore won the previous meeting between the two sides when they knocked over Kochi by 6 wickets in the third match of the competition.
